Vs Hunters
Result - Lost by 33 runs in a high scoring game
Hunters won the toss and elected to bat first. For himalayan, Srini started from Jefferson memorial end and in the very first over removed hunters opener and one down batsman with 7 runs on board. Off the 7 runs 5 were wides and 2 off the bat. This is the first glimpse of what is coming behind J. Deepak bowled his usual line & length to tie down the batsman. Srini came back to take one more wicket and the score read 10 runs/3 wkts in first 3 overs and then starts the flow of extras. Ram came in as a first change bowler with his military medium balls to remove their second opener caught behind by our gilly1- ramana. By the end of first session hunters cruised to over 6 an over, ofcourse ..thanks to our bowlers. There were very few runs off the bat. Chandresh (2 wkts), Jana and Aman (2 wkts) worked well to contain the run rate and took wickets in regular intervals. Jana was unlucky not to get wickets; perhaps he is saving his best for later games. Fielding was good and the throws right on stumps which resulted in 2 run outs at the right time. Hunters made 239/10 in 39.5 overs.
Ram and Chandresh started Himalayan innings, both playing and getting runs with ease. The openers got us about 30 runs partnership and got out trying to work for more runs. Amit was our one down, went and came back without doing much damage to hunters bowlers. Had he setteled hunters would have seen some stars but well.. some other team would see it. Srini, Jana, Sudheer, Deepak all settled well in the middle but didn’t convert their scores to bigger ones. Between, hunters brought their star bowlers who were way ..generous and brought in some big time entertainment. Wides, wides, non-stop wides and fours in between that helped us to keep up the run-rate. This is one team which is surely surviving on their batting strength. Vijay and Lali didn’t do much damage but Himalayan’s last pair (Ramana and Aman) got us close to the target but got out trying to finish it off. Himalayan were 209/10 in 37.5 overs
Standout performances:
Deepak - 25; Aman - 24 & 2 wkts; Jana - 22; Srini - 3 wkts; Chandresh - 2 wkts
